Admissions

After our successful Ofsted Inspection last October, we have had a significant rise in the number of parents interested in sending their child to our school. We are very proud of the fact that our local community now also appreciate the quality of teaching and learning at St. Joseph’s and recognise the way we care for and nurture the whole child. This includes planning for children’s social and emotional and spiritual needs as well as their academic ones.

We will not compromise on the quality of our care, teaching, classroom facilities and building space and for this reason the governors would like to reduce the admissions number from twenty one to fifteen. As a school with three split year group classes we want to ensure that our class sizes are not significantly above thirty, which potentially they could be in Key Stage One in the future. The letter on our website written by the archdiocese, explains why we want to reduce the admissions number. We are now in a period of time known as the “consultation process” when if you want to object to the proposal you are asked to put this is writing, addressed to Mrs Kate Armstrong, our Chair of Governors.

I hope that you see that this proposed change to our admissions is a positive move to help ensure the best possible provision for our children.
