Welcome to Class 2/3.
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a peaceful and restful Christmas. What an exciting half term we have coming up!
Our new topic is called 'Amazing Animals' (with a branch off into the life of the Ancient Greeks too!) I'm not going to spoil it by revealing our new book but I'll leave a clue here:
In Science we will be learning about how animals grow and survive in their habitats and environments. As Historians we will be learning about the Ancient Greeks. Linked to this in Geography we will be recalling the facts we learned about capital cities last term and moving onto learning about the oceans and continents of the world. In Art and Design we will be looking at the work of the sculptor Tom Hill. Then, using our developing design and technology skills by joining materials carefully we will make a skeletal sculpture out of wire. French lessons will continue with Mme. Russell. Music will continue through the online platform Charanga with Mrs. Park.
In R.E. the focus is on 'Journeys' and our own journey with God and our families. We look forward to our Kidsafe sessions with Mrs. Knott. But, perhaps even more exciting, is that we are continuing going to the swimming baths each week where we are learning the essential life skill of swimming.
I am looking forward to reading lots of stories and books with the class this year and can't wait to share my favourite books! We'll be voting on our Class reader very soon and I look forward to seeing what the children choose.
