Explore examples and evaluate products available. Learn new skills, design, make and evaluate their own product as part of DT.

As part of geography, children will be able to study the human and physical geography of a seaside town, Blackpool and comparing it with other places. They will consider elements such as tourism, transport, settlements, land use and change over time etc. through the use of maps, images and other sources of geographical information.

Within this theme, children will have the opportunity to develop their drawing and painting skills and then enrich their ideas into a textile, such as batik. In journals, make drawings of the sea, seaside, lighthouses, boats, from photographs. Experiment using a range of pencils, charcoal and chalk, biros and felt pens, pastels and oil pastels.
