Round Up Of The Week

Week commencing 9th May 2022

Ssshhh! This week Year 6 have been doing their SATs tests and we have tried our best to stay quiet (which for us was very difficult!). We have carried on with our 101 Dalmatians unit in English and have worked really hard on creating our own diary entry as if we were one of the puppies that Cruella "puppynapped". We also had a lovely time out in Forest School on Tuesday with Miss Carter and built some fantastic dens.

Week commencing 2nd May 2022

In English, Cl 2/3 have been writing dialogue between two character from 101 Dalmatians using inverted commas and synonyms for the word “said”. The class has been looking at equivalent fractions and fractions of a set of objects.

Week commencing 25th April 2022

In Cl 2/3, using 101 Dalmatians as a focus, pupils have been creating their own villains based on Cruella de Ville. In P.E. they have started to learn some tag rugby skills with Mr Astle and in ukulele they learnt how to play “Happier” by Marshmello.

Week commencing 21st March 2022

Wow, what a busy week! This week we have been working hard on our spring assessments and have all given 100%. We were also lucky enough to spend some time outside playing tennis with Coach Andy from South Ribble Council. We learnt all about ball control and practised walking our dog (the ball). In French we learnt lots of new words all about spring and are finishing off our week with a sports carousel on the field with the whole school.

Week commencing 28th February 2022

What a great week! Year 2/3 are almost at the end of their non-chronological reports on mammoths and are excited to move onto their new English topic. In science we looked at animal classification with Mrs Smith where we grouped animals by the way they look. We also had a very special visit from some fire fighters who talked to us about fire safety and we learnt how to stop, drop and roll. On Thursday our class was filled with lots of famous book characters! We loved dressing up for World Book Day!

Week commencing 21st February 2022

It's great to be back! Wow we have been busy in year 2/3 this week! In English, we have carried on looking at woolly mammoths and are beginning to write our own non-chronological report. For maths, we have moved on to shape, position and direction and have had a go at directing each other around the playground and Forest School using left, right, forwards and backwards.

Week commencing 7th February 2022

This week in school we have been celebrating children's mental health week. On Monday everyone came to school in clothes that show off their personalities and hobbies. In English we made an Acrostic poem using our name to celebrate everything that makes us special. In Maths we are still looking at length, Year 2 have been comparing and ordering lengths while year 3 have started to add different lengths together ensuring that the units of measure are consistent. We have also looked at how we keep ourselves safe online and discussed the importance of talking to a trusted adult if anything upsets us. We then used our new skills to search for photos of things that we like to create our own PowerPoints to show the rest of the class.
