Catholic Life & Mission
Catholic Life and Mission
At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Brindle, our Catholic Life and Mission are at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our mission, “Together we love, learn and follow Jesus,” we strive to ensure that every child is known, valued and supported to flourish as a unique child of God. Our faith is not confined to Religious Education lessons but permeates every aspect of school life, shaping relationships, decision-making and our service to others.
Our mission is clearly understood and lived out by pupils, staff, governors and families. Gospel values underpin our daily interactions, creating a welcoming, inclusive and nurturing community where respect, compassion, forgiveness and dignity are evident in the way we care for one another. Children are encouraged to recognise their God-given gifts and to use them in the service of others.
Our Annual Plan of Provision ensures that prayer, liturgy and Catholic Life are carefully planned and celebrated throughout the liturgical year. Through whole-school liturgies, class-based Celebrations of the Word, pupil-led worship, retreats, Masses and seasonal experiences, pupils encounter Christ regularly and deepen their understanding of the Church’s traditions and teachings. The rhythm of school life reflects the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Ordinary Time, helping children grow spiritually and develop a lifelong relationship with God.
Pupil leadership plays a significant role in our Catholic Life. Through groups such as our Mini Vinnies, Planet Protectors and School Council leaders, children actively contribute to prayer, liturgy, charitable outreach and social action. They are encouraged to put faith into action by supporting local, national and global causes, demonstrating a growing understanding of Catholic Social Teaching and their responsibility to work for the common good.
Strong partnerships with families, the parish and the wider community enrich the faith journey of our pupils. We work closely with St Bede's, providing opportunities for shared worship, sacramental preparation and community celebrations. These partnerships help pupils recognise that they belong to a wider Church community and encourage them to live as disciples of Christ both within and beyond school.
As an inclusive Catholic community, we welcome and value everyone, regardless of background or faith tradition. Inspired by the belief that all people are made in the image and likeness of God, we seek to create a culture of belonging where every person is respected and supported. Through our commitment to faith, service and excellence, we aim to form young people who are confident, compassionate and ready to make a positive difference in the world.
At St Joseph’s, Catholic Life and Mission are not simply part of what we do; they are at the very heart of who we are.
