School Improvement
We are committed to continuous improvement so that every child receives the highest quality education, rooted in our Catholic mission and values. School improvement is a shared responsibility involving leaders, staff, governors, pupils and external partners who work together to strengthen teaching, learning and the wider school experience.
External Support and Challenge
We are fortunate to be supported by two highly experienced advisors who visit school each term:
-
Michael Boland – Archdiocesan Advisor Provides guidance on Catholic Life, Religious Education and Collective Worship, ensuring our provision reflects the expectations of the Archdiocese of Liverpool.
-
Helen Hesketh – Lancashire County Council School Advisor Works with leaders on curriculum development, teaching and learning, safeguarding and overall school effectiveness.
Their visits offer valuable professional challenge, celebrate strengths and help shape our ongoing improvement priorities.
Governor Monitoring
Our Governing Board plays an active role in school improvement. Governors:
-
Carry out learning walks across school
-
Speak with pupils through pupil voice interviews
-
Review curriculum plans and outcomes
-
Monitor safeguarding, attendance and behaviour
-
Evaluate progress against the School Improvement Plan
These activities help governors gain a clear understanding of school life and ensure that strategic decisions are informed by first‑hand evidence.
Culture of Reflective Practice
School improvement is not a one‑off event; it is a continuous cycle. Staff engage in:
-
Professional development linked to the School Improvement Plan
-
Regular review of teaching and learning
-
Collaborative planning and moderation
-
Ongoing assessment and curriculum refinement
This ensures that our provision remains ambitious, inclusive and responsive to the needs of all pupils.
