Week Ending: 07.11.25

We have started the new half term with a bang in Class Acutis. Quite literally as the children in Year 2 have created fantastic firework art in their computing lesson. We have spent time remembering those who have been or are involved in conflicts across the globe and have written prayers to form a school wreath. The children made many thoughtful contributions during the class discussion. Year 3 and Year 4 have had a little bit of training on our new reading scheme and are now feeling spurred on to get reading even more!

Our focus in English this week has been writing diaries. Pupils wrote about their first day in school from a Victorian child’s perspective. On Friday they wrote a diary entry to their future selves which will be added to our 50th anniversary time capsule. In history, we compared how the lives of rich Victorians was different to those who had less money. Friendship was the focus of our PSHE lesson with children making a flower describing what makes a good friend.

Class Acutis started the week by creating some beautiful pieces of art work to show the virtues of faith, hope and love. They look fantastic hanging on the washing line in the classroom. The children have also been very interested in finding out about what a day at school in the Victorian times was like and are getting ready to produce a piece of writing on this topic. This afternoon they continued working on sequences in gymnastics and added jumps to their routines. As always, a busy and productive week with these wonderful children!

I cannot believe it is the end of another week! The children in Class Acutis are providing me with so many "Wow" moments. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading their animal narratives which have been inspired by The Hodegheg and I am looking forward to seeing their final drafts. In Design anTdechnology, they did a super job of creating prototype cams - not an easy task! On this note, if any parents or grandparents would like to come in and talk to the children about their knowledge and experience, please let me know! The children are enjoying their sessions with Coach Scott and in PE with me they have created some excellent gymnastics sequences. The next step will be to introduce apparatus. Most children have now completed homework tasks on the new learning platforms. If you have not done so yet, please have a go this weekend. Any problems let me know and many thanks for all your continued support.
