Week Ending: 16.01.26
This week seems to have flown by! The prayer and liturgy leaders started their week by preparing a wonderful liturgy which they led in the newly decorated chapel and we also had our first session of meditation. At both times the
children felt a calmness and showed a deep level of spirituality. Lots of children commented on how much they enjoyed both sessions. We have had a big focus on times tables in math's this week. Year 2 have been applying their
knowledge of counting in 2s, 5s and 10s in the context of money, Year 3 have been working on the 4x and 8x tables and Year 4 have been multiplying twoand-3-digit numbers. In English, the children finished their onomatopoeic
poems with some superb results. We started our new units in French, History and Science and finally finished our art work inspired by the work of Paul Cummins and Kara Walker. The work the children have produced is incredibly
creative and to a very high standard. No wonder the days have passed quickly- Class Acutis hasn't stopped!

It has been so lovely to see the children again and to hear about their Christmas celebrations. They all seem to have grown so much in two weeks! We have started the new year as we mean to go on - in amazing style.
Although the decorations may have disappeared, we discussed how the Christmas period is only just coming to an end with the celebration of Epiphany. The children thought deeply about what they would say to the baby
Messiah and then moved on to imagine what gift would be suitable and helpful for a Messiah born in 2026. In maths, the children in Year 2 have continued to investigate the properties of 3D shapes, while in Year 3 and Year 4
the focus has been on multiplication and division. We have continued with the genre of poetry in English but this time focusing on onomatopoeia which has been really fun. In art we are nearing the end of a topic which is inspired by the work of Paul Cummins and the children have been learning how to show tone through collage - the results are fantastic. This week has also been the first session of Forest School, please ensure your child is suitably dressed on Thursdays so they can get the full enjoyment from this session. Finally I wish you all a happy new year and many thanks for your continued support.

We have had fast-paced week in Class Acutis. Nativity rehearsals have continued with the older children joining us to play their part in the singing and the children are doing really well. In English we have started our new text,
Christmas Poems, which the children are really enjoying. The children performed a verse of our focus poem fluently and from memory with added actions and the results were superb. In Maths I have noticed that some of the
children's heatmaps on TTRockstars are becoming a sea of green! Well done for all the hard work that is going on at home, this knowledge will have a huge impact across all areas of Maths. On Tuesday William, Reuben and Marnie led us in a wonderful Celebration of the Word for this second week in Advent and the children have fed back in class on what they have completed from the December kindness calendar which was sent home last week. It has been lovely to hear what they have been getting up to. The classroom was turned into an art gallery during RE with a focus on artistic portrayals of Christ the King. The children studied the artworks thoughtfully and spotted the hidden symbols before choosing their favourite 2 pieces. Finally, we were very excited to meet Miss Omer yesterday who will be working with the class after Christmas while Miss Kantharia spends time at a contrasting school. The
children gave her a warm St Joseph's welcome.

The children in Class Acutis have been extra amazing this week. You might imagine being a teacher with no voice would be impossible, however these little stars have made it easy! They have listened and watched really carefully
and have demonstrated their excellent reading skills by reading aloud to the class when necessary. After a week away from writing about Paddington, the children have been very excited to get back to writing instructions for washing a bear and the results have been excellent. I fear they might like to try their instructions out for real over the holidays! In Maths, Year 2 have made a superb start to learning about 2D shapes and have really enjoyed the practical activities using art straws and plasticine. Year 3 and Year 4 have been getting to grips with multiplication and I can see that time on TTRockstars is paying off! Nativity rehearsals are well under way and I would like to say a huge thank you to all the adults at home who are helping the children to learn their lines. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions. As always thanks for your support.

Class Acutis have been working their brains extra hard this week in Maths and English as they have been recalling information from the last few months and completing lots of quizzes. The children have also created some artwork to celebrate the feast day of Christ the King. We looked at a range of different representations before the children created their own with pastels. This week's prayer leaders led us in a lovely celebration of the word to begin our
preparation through Advent and they also made changes to the class worship area including changing the cloth to purple and adding an Advent wreath.
Other children helped to prepare the classroom by decorating a tree and setting up the Nativity, remembering to place the kings further away to show their journey to the stable and leaving Baby Jesus out of the Nativity for now.
The excitement is definitely building!

Another fantastic week in Class Acutis has come to an end. The children have demonstrated superb knowledge in RE of the prophets Elijah and Saint John the Baptist. They have also enjoyed a really catchy song on the subject. In English we have been busy writing instructions for "How to wash a bear," based on our class novel - Paddington. The children have been very creative about the reasons for keeping a bear clean and have made me laugh a lot. I am looking forward to reading their final sets of instructions. Miss Kantharia delivered an exciting Science lesson on the resistance of different surfaces - the children enjoyed testing the effect of the surfaces as they rolled their car
down a ramp. As we look forward to the start of Advent next week, our minds have turned to the Nativity Production. The children should now have their parts and work will start in earnest next week. As always thank you for your
support.
