It has been a festive and busy week in Class Romero, starting off with our stay and play. It was lovely to watch the children showing their families around their learning space. Rehearsals for our Nativity performance are in full swing now, the children are thoroughly enjoying this time with the rest of the school. Please continue to support your child with practising their lines.
As part of our geography topic we have been on a virtual tour around Hoghton, identifying our local physical and human features! The children loved the yellow figure on Google Maps! In English we have been busy writing our wishes for Christmas, and our Reception children have begun writing short sentences! I am looking forward to another festive week in school - this is my favourite time of the year!

It has been a wonderfully productive week in Romero Class! We have begun our Nativity preparations and joyfully led a Celebration of the Word. Inviting parents into school made the occasion even more special—the children loved sharing their reflections and missions with their families. In geography, we explored compass directions and had great fun putting our learning into practice outdoors. Year 1 have been diving deeper into addition and
subtraction, while Reception have been busy investigating the numbers 4 and 5. In English, the children are thoroughly enjoying their new topic books, which carry a delightful hint of Christmas magic. It’s been a week filled with learning, creativity, and community spirit—Romero Class are truly shining!

This week in Romero Class, we’ve been on a heartfelt mission to become peaceful and thoughtful members of our community. Inspired by our Prayer and Liturgy reflections, the children have shown wonderful calmness and
respect throughout the school. It was a joy to welcome and speak to parents on Monday evening. Thank you for your kind feedback and ongoing support. The children have made fantastic progress this half-term, and the classroom
has been filled with smiles, laughter, and a genuine love of learning. On Tuesday afternoon we were delighted to be joined by Compass Bloom, who led a brilliant session on understanding emotions. The children learned some
calming breathing exercises they can use anytime when they need a moment of peace. In English, Year 1s have been busy mapping out the school, embarking on a journey to label its key features. Meanwhile, Reception
children have begun writing CVC words in Drawing Club — we’re incredibly proud of their efforts and enthusiasm! Next week, we’re excited to dive into our new books and continue our learning adventures.

It has been a wonderful first week back in school. I’m incredibly proud of how smoothly the children have settled into their routines and how eager they are to learn. Their enthusiasm has been truly inspiring! In R.E., we’ve begun
exploring the Nativity story. The children have loved using role play to bring key moments to life, and their creativity has shone through in every scene. It has been a joyful and meaningful start to our religious learning. We’ve also
been reflecting on Remembrance Day, creating beautiful poppies and sharing thoughtful prayers during our Prayer and Liturgy sessions. The children approached this with great care and respect, and their handmade poppies and personal reflections were deeply moving. In English, Year 1 have started mapping out our school grounds, combining literacy with spatial awareness. Meanwhile, Reception have been diving into Drawing Club, inspired by the classic tale The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. Their imaginative illustrations and storytelling have been delightful! We have started our first Geography unit: The Geography of Our School Grounds. The children have begun identifying different types of houses and discussing where they live, sparking some wonderful conversations about our local environment.
