It has been a wonderful, fluffy and joyful week in Class Romero! We welcomed some very cute, loud, and cheeky chicks into our classroom. They have filled our days with smiles, curiosity, and excitement. The children loved caring for them and learning all about the lifecycle of a chick. This week, we also began our new units across the curriculum. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring Pop Art, as well as learning about famous explorers in History. Next week, Year 1 will be planning and writing their very own adventure stories in English. Reception will be writing and drawing about adventure-themed questions inspired by 'Billy and The Pirates'. In Maths, Year 1 have begun exploring place value within 50, focusing on counting and grouping in tens. Reception have been exploring length, height, and time through handson practical activities. We have especially loved taking our learning outdoors, making the most of practical experiences to deepen understanding. I am looking forward to another exciting week ahead, starting with World Book Day, where we will be engaging in drama sessions and CAFOD workshops.

It has been a wonderful first half term of Spring. The children have grown in confidence and continued to nurture their love of learning. To end our week, we led a Prayer and Liturgy for parents, centred on sharing peace and love with one another. Thank you to all the parents who joined us for this special time of reflection. This week, we brought our curriculum units to a close, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed each topic. In R.E, we created our own “helping hands” bunting to show how we can offer love and care to those in our community. Year 1 have planned and written their own poems inspired by animals, while Reception have been busy designing a new dress and headpiece for the “Carnival Queen.” On Friday afternoon, the children illustrated and wrote about their favourite celebration of the year, discussing the different celebrations we have explored this half‑term. I am very much looking forward to another busy and exciting half‑term as we journey towards Easter.

It has been another fun and busy week in Class Romero! We’ve enjoyed lots of hands‑on learning, from decorating our vehicles in DT to creating Sukkot tents in History. The children always throw themselves into these activities and work brilliantly together. In Maths, both Year 1 and Reception have been exploring doubles, using songs and rhymes to help us remember them. Year 1 have turned into real bookworms in English, focusing on a poem inspired by a Chinese dragon. Next week, they will begin writing their own poems, including some fantastic rhyming words. Reception have been writing and learning all about carnivals, inspired by their English book Carnival Queen. In Science, we have learnt about the next stage of a frog’s life cycle—froglets! Next week, we will be bringing all of our learning together to create a frog life‑cycle wheel. I am really looking forward to our final week before half‑term. We will be focusing on St Valentine and enjoying lots of Valentine’s‑themed provisionI

It has been a wonderfully busy and exciting week in Class Romero. The children have been hard at work designing and building their own vehicles using junk modelling materials, complete with axles and chassis. Hands‑on learning truly brings out the best in them, and it was fantastic to see every pair fully absorbed in their creations and working together so enthusiastically. This afternoon, the children produced beautiful, detailed artwork inspired by
Ramadan and Eid. They were eager to learn about the celebration and showed great curiosity throughout the activity. In Jam Coding, Reception children have been developing their click‑and‑drag skills by completing tricky digital jigsaws. Year 1 have continued with their brilliant animations unit, learning how to add frames to make their characters move smoothly across the screen. In science, we carried on exploring the lifecycle of a frog, with a special focus on tadpoles. The children were amazed to discover how frogs hatch from their jelly-like eggs and gradually transform. In Maths, Year 1 have been practising addition and subtraction within 20 and have begun learning their doubles to 20. Reception have been exploring the numbers 6, 7, and 8 through a range of practical activities. It has been a week full of curiosity, creativity, and teamwork. We are very much looking forward to our final two weeks of this half term.
