It has been a wonderful first week back in school. I’m incredibly proud of how smoothly the children have settled into their routines and how eager they are to learn. Their enthusiasm has been truly inspiring! In R.E., we’ve begun
exploring the Nativity story. The children have loved using role play to bring key moments to life, and their creativity has shone through in every scene. It has been a joyful and meaningful start to our religious learning. We’ve also
been reflecting on Remembrance Day, creating beautiful poppies and sharing thoughtful prayers during our Prayer and Liturgy sessions. The children approached this with great care and respect, and their handmade poppies and personal reflections were deeply moving. In English, Year 1 have started mapping out our school grounds, combining literacy with spatial awareness. Meanwhile, Reception have been diving into Drawing Club, inspired by the classic tale The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse. Their imaginative illustrations and storytelling have been delightful! We have started our first Geography unit: The Geography of Our School Grounds. The children have begun identifying different types of houses and discussing where they live, sparking some wonderful conversations about our local environment.

We have had an amazing final week of the half term. It has been such a joy to get to know all of our new Reception children. They have all settled in with such a calming and caring nature, I am excited to watch them blossom through the year. Thank you to all of the Year 1 children for supporting the younger children as they have settled in and helped make them feel comfortable in their new class. All of the children in Class Romero have started the year off with a mighty passion and enthusiasm towards their learning. They have thoroughly enjoyed all of our units across the curriculum. I hope you have an amazing half-term break and thank you for your continued support.

We have had a super busy week in Class Romero this week. Year 1s have been learning and exploring the concept of rhyming, we have been playing many rhyming games and completing activities. Reception pupils have been on a creative bus journey, they have been using their imagination to create some wonderful images and words in Drawing Club. It is amazing watching the children's progress in their writing and creativity. This week in R.E, Class Romero explored the special Catholic ceremony of Baptism. We learned about its meaning, symbols, and importance within the faith. To bring the learning to life, the children took part in a role-play activity, acting out the Baptism process using a doll as the baby. They carefully followed each step — from welcoming the child into the church to pouring water from a shell onto their head— helping them understand the significance of each moment. The children were enthusiastic and thoughtful throughout, showing a deep understanding of what it means to be baptised and why it’s such a meaningful event for many families. I am looking forward to our final week of Autumn One, where has the time gone!

It has been a lovely week in Class Romero. In English we have been exploring our books, 'You cannot take an elephant on the bus' and 'The hundred decker bus'. Reception pupils have been super creative in Drawing Club, Year ls have been making predictions and writing about their own experiences on a bus. We have finished our first maths units - place value and creating simple patterns. I am looking forward to starting new units next week. In history we have been exploring transport, this week the children have been sorting and organising pictures of transport into past and present. They were amazed at how transport has changed over time! We have also had a continuous provision enhancement - all about autumn!
